Practices are designed to introduce children to the basics of Field Hockey through practices that focus on basic rules, proper grips, and posture, ball and stick control, tackling, receiving/trapping, and passing.

An active, healthy club for beginners who like to run, jog, walk, and want to improve their physical fitness. Students learn the importance of injury prevention through warming up, stretching, cooling down, and staying hydrated. The spring session will culminate in participation in the Hudson Spring Run for the Parks 5K on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 8:00 a.m.

This program provides players with an intermediate approach to the sport of basketball. Coaches emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork. Coaches will teach fundamental skills such as; dribbling, ball handling, passing, shooting, offense/defense, and much more. Players begin to develop these skills as they interact with their fellow teammates in practice and play games against other teams.

This program provides young athletes with an introduction to the basic golf techniques needed to progress within the sport. Practices are designed to introduce Middle Schoolers to the basics of golf: grip, stance, posture, swing, club selection, driving, chipping and putting.

This program provides young athletes with an introduction to strength training at our Butler Fitness Center. Participants will learn the fundamentals of strength training which include: body positioning, posture, and breathing techniques. Participants will also gain an introduction to the 7 functional strength movements which include: hinge, squat, push, pull, carry, rotate, and lunge. Our Laurel Strength and Conditioning team led by Coach Dan Dvorak and Coach Meghan Daly will give the students a head start to Upper School athletics.

Join us this summer for our Laurel Middle School Field Hockey Camp. Coached by Laurel’s very own varsity field hockey coaches, Meghan Daly and Lindsay Penkala. This camp is open to any 6-8th grade girl in the greater Cleveland area. Athletes of beginner and intermediate skill will learn the game through a variety of field hockey drills, games, and development stations, you’ll be able to practice all of the techniques used in the sport, including: dribbling, passing and receiving, ball control, shooting, defensive tackling, positioning, teamwork, agility, footwork, scanning, and more.
